1. Company Background Check
Every new employer is checked manually before we publish any of their vacancies. We look at:
- Registered company name and address
- Official website and contact details
- Presence in maritime databases and professional networks
- Online reputation and seafarer feedback where available
2. License & RPSL Verification
For manning agents and crewing agencies, we try to confirm official approvals wherever possible. For example, in India we look for a valid RPSL (Recruiting and Placement of Seafarers License).
We may check:
- Government or flag-state listings of approved agencies
- Company registration numbers mentioned on the website or documents
- Past regulatory actions or warnings where information is public
3. Vacancy Content Review
Each job post is reviewed for basic quality and red flags before publishing. We pay attention to:
- Clear job title, vessel type and trade
- Required certificates and experience
- Realistic salary range (where provided)
- Contact method and application instructions
Red Flags We Watch For
- Requests for payment to “secure” a job or schedule an interview
- Promises that sound “too good to be true” with no clear requirements
- Poorly written offers with suspicious email IDs
4. Ongoing Monitoring
Verification is not one-time. If we receive complaints from seafarers, see negative patterns, or notice any changes in company details, we may:
- Pause or remove their vacancies
- Request updated documents and clarifications
- Mark the company as “use extra caution” internally
5. Your Role in Staying Safe
Even with all checks, no job portal can guarantee 100% safety. You should always:
- Refuse to pay any agent to “get a job”
- Verify license numbers and approvals independently
- Keep copies of all emails, receipts and offer letters
- Ask questions if something feels wrong or unclear
